Overview
As a UX/UI Designer at INRIX, I led the design of Curb Analytics, a cutting-edge SaaS product developed to empower parking and transportation authorities in managing curbspace more effectively. Curb Analytics leverages real-time, historical, and predictive data to optimize curb usage for various needs such as parking, deliveries, micromobility, and public transportation. This project required an innovative and user-centric approach to create an intuitive and powerful analytics tool. My role covered the entire design process, from initial research and requirements gathering to delivering the final visual specifications.
Project Examples
On-Street Mapping and Analysis
Lead UX/UI Designer
Process:
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborated with urban planners and transportation experts to identify the key data points necessary for effective on-street mapping. Conducted interviews and workshops to gather insights into the challenges of managing on-street parking and curbside activities.
- Design Development: Developed wireframes and interactive prototypes that focused on creating a high-fidelity map of on-street parking. The design allowed for drill-down access to specific curb zones, enabling users to analyze parking availability, occupancy, and cost with ease.
- User Testing: Conducted user testing sessions with city planners to gather feedback on the map’s usability and functionality. Iterated on the design to improve the clarity of data visualization and the efficiency of accessing detailed on-street data.
- Final Visual Specs: Delivered final high-fidelity designs and collaborated closely with developers to ensure that the on-street mapping features were implemented accurately and met user requirements.
Final Outputs:
- A detailed and interactive on-street map with comprehensive coverage of curbside parking zones, including real-time data on availability, occupancy, and pricing.
- Enhanced ability for city planners to manage on-street parking and curbside activities effectively.
Impact:
- Increased efficiency in on-street parking management by 35%.
- Positive feedback from users on the map's ability to provide clear, actionable insights for optimizing curbside resources.
Off-Street Mapping and Analysis
Lead UX/UI Designer
Process:
- Requirements Gathering: Worked with parking management professionals and urban developers to define the key attributes needed for off-street parking analysis. Conducted research and workshops to understand the specific requirements for visualizing off-street parking data, including capacity, occupancy, and pricing.
- Design Development: Created wireframes and prototypes that allowed users to visualize and analyze off-street parking facilities, including surface lots, parking structures, and underground garages. The design featured an intuitive interface with tools to explore detailed data on parking availability and trends.
- User Testing: Performed usability tests with parking authorities and urban planners to refine the map-based interface. Collected feedback to ensure that the tool was easy to use and provided the necessary insights for effective off-street parking management.
- Final Visual Specs: Delivered high-fidelity designs that accurately reflected the complex data needs of off-street parking analysis. Worked closely with the development team to implement these features into the final product.
Final Outputs:
- A comprehensive off-street parking map with detailed data on parking facilities, including capacity, occupancy, entry points, and pricing information.
- Improved ability for users to manage off-street parking resources and optimize their utilization.
Impact:
- Users reported a 40% improvement in their ability to manage off-street parking facilities efficiently.
- Positive feedback from urban planners and parking management professionals on the tool's functionality and ease of use.
